Founder Story

Lisa Gerard learned commercial real estate from the ground up.

She was twenty-four when she started as a temporary receptionist for The David Associates, one of West Palm Beach’s premier commercial real estate companies. She quickly discovered a passion for the business and moved onto permanent positions in accounts receivable, accounts payable, maintenance administration, and lease administration.

After a stint assisting the outgoing controller/human resources director, she became chief operating officer, assuming responsibility for every aspect of The David Associates daily functioning and long-term strategy, including property acquisition and disposition. While continuing in that role, she was promoted to vice president, then president as The David Associates’ owner transitioned into retirement.

Working under a variety of market conditions, in both booming and recessing economies, Lisa always ensured The David Associates was positioned for success. Among the many properties she was involved with, she helped acquire and manage The Harvey Building, then the tallest structure in West Palm Beach; the Delray Corporate Center, a deal she kept on track even when Hurricane Wilma dealt massive damage to facility; and the Comeau Building, arguably West Palm Beach’s most prestigious business address.

In addition to properties on Florida’s east and west coasts, she also oversaw assets in North Carolina and Connecticut, including all classes of office space, industrial parks, and retail.

During the course of her time with The David Associates, she managed over two million square feet of total space, juggling as many as 150 leases at a single property. With tenants as small as 150 square feet and as large as 62,000, she gained experience meeting the real estate needs of virtually every type of business.

Lisa worked with numerous leading brands, including Dunkin, Subway, Kaplan University, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Palm Beach Post, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and the corporate headquarters of Golden Corral. She also negotiated ground leases for Pet Supplies Plus, Pollo Tropical, and others.

After seventeen years with The David Associates, Lisa left the company in 2018 to begin focusing on her own portfolio. Today, she owns and manages the Lantana Industrial Park, a 50,000-square-foot Class B warehouse property located between Route 1 and Interstate 95. She is also involved in several residential investment properties in West Palm Beach.

With a strong background in finance, Lisa has sourced her own loans for many years. She has worked with numerous financial institutions on originating, refinancing, and right-sizing loans when they grew out of compliance.

She has also overseen extensive renovations and repairs at her properties, along the way earning a certified general contractor’s license and an EPA Section 608 HVAC certification to go with her real estate broker’s license.

A former board member of the Downtown Development Authority for West Palm Beach, she is a known and trusted member of the business community. She is also a proud mother of two terrific teenaged girls and serves as a human to three spoiled dogs and one fiercely independent cat.
